Halloween 2020

Halloween 2020

The Health Center at Bloomingdale was not going to let a pandemic get in the way of having some good old Halloween Fun. Even though we were not able to host the children in the community for our annual Halloween Intergenerational Festivities, the team here at HCB made sure the staff and residents were able to have some much needed fun. We used our creativity during our first annual pumpkin decorating contest. Staff and residents were able to tap into their inner child while taking part in our crazy sock day and festive Halloween Hat day. And just because we have to wear face masks all day, every day, it doesn’t mean we can’t make them festive for Halloween, so we had a “decorate your face mask” day. We enjoyed fall treats such as hot apple cider and apple fritters, and games such as Trick or Treat Bingo and guess how many candy corns are in the jar. The week wasn’t all fun and games though, as our Staff Educator created a “Room of Horrors” for staff to test their knowledge on resident and staff safety by having to identify all the things wrong in the room which posed potential nightmare outcomes. And of course, Halloween would not be Halloween without a good old fashioned Halloween Costume Contest. The residents and staff all enjoyed this week of treats, games and education and it was proof that we can still enjoy the holidays in a safe, yet light- hearted way. As Halloween is now in the rear view mirror, we look forward to the making the upcoming fall and winter holidays just as festive and special for our family here at The Health Center at Bloomingdale.
